Atlas Conference

Atlas Economic Research Foundation International Conference

Conference Overview:

On September 25-26, 2008, the Atlas Economic Research Foundation will gather in Dallas, attracting a number of friends from abroad who care deeply about individual rights, free enterprise and limited government under the rule of law.  They will share their views on how to deal with the enhanced risks of totalitarianism and terrorism while preserving the liberties we so cherish.  They are delighted to participate in the 25th Anniversary celebration of the National Center for Policy Analysis.

Atlas was founded in 1981 to help develop free-market think tanks all over the world by raising funds and providing advice and contacts.  The NCPA was one of the earliest beneficiaries of Atlas (the Center's first donation was a $20,000 check from Atlas in 1982) and it remains one of its greatest success stories.

The NCPA has distinguished itself with pioneering work on entitlement reform, especially in the areas of health and Social Security.  In the process, the NCPA has become a role model for the 250+ think tanks in 75 countries that are part of the Atlas network.  A decade ago, in conjunction with NCPA's 15th anniversary, Atlas co-hosted an international conference in Dallas that featured Milton and Rose Friedman; then-Governor George Allen (Virginia); the Rt. Hon. David Davis (UK); Robert McTeer, then at the Dallas Federal Reserve; and courageous Atlas partners from India, Guatemala, Turkey, and beyond.
